    Battery Box Build

Used the ammo can for a battery box, and it was destroyed in a year. Wanted something I could attach to my Tactacam, so I did some digging on YouTube. Found this guys build on YouTube, and made my own. Going to make a few mods to it, but came out to $40 for everything.

I had the solar panel, so that saved me a little money. Cost was around $50 without the solar panel. Probably around $60 and easy to make!

This is where I got the idea, but instead of using the small charge controllers, that are a pain in the arse to wire, I used a regular charge controller.

I did the wiring with the linear voltage regulators he had in the videos, not hard to solder BUT I had 2 that were bad when tested and let the smoke out of another after I was almost finished with the wiring. .. 10 for $7 IF I had seen the solar controller I probably would have went that route as well and save some frustration lol. I will add that your trail cams have to run 12v for these to work without frying your camera. Wonder if the solar controllers can be had for 6v / 9 v etc. I used the small ammo can and separate solar panel I am mounting on EMT .Might throw up the pics after I get them installed and they work right.

Thats a good price. I have two and they work fine. Amazon has several solar/battery deals that are in the $50.00 range. I have 3 battery boxes I built for my Coverts several years ago. There was a thread in DIY here that I followed. Not very compact but they work. the one's I built I haven't had to change batteries in maybe three years. The HME one's are going on about 2 years.
