At today’s corn prices I’d just thank him for feeding the deer and then hunt that pile.

Kinda my thoughts. Poachers usually try to make an effort to hide. Not sure why someone would put an expensive camera and corn in an area that appears to be pretty open and easy to find if they were trying to get away with something. Probably got permission from somebody with land near there but didn’t get great directions, or is thinking a boundary goes a little further than it does. Had a buddy who had a guy wander past his stand during a hunt. Turns out the guy had permission on the neighboring property who’d had no luck in the stand and decided to walk around and see if he could stir something up. Got confused and ended up a couple hundred yards over the property line

Most likely Walmart Apple Corn. And bet he comes back during the week, with him expecting someone to be there on the weekends.

I would have turned his camera off and waited for him to come fix it. Lots of leases have legitimate weekend hunters and illegitimate weekday hunters. Especially true in East texas when I use to show up during week.

For trespassing you usually have to give a warning before getting in any trouble.

I wish people like that could be tazed. Or at least tracked so next time they try poaching courts could put the hammer down hard.

Good luck OP.

Hunting without landowners consent?

Let's be real here. Why else is he putting corn and a camera out?

And as a landowner you should read trespassing laws. If he crossed a fence that's enough

So why is this stuff so prevalent in east Texas? Constantly hearing these stories but never asked. Is it the thick woods are easy to hide in? A high population of hunters? A culture of the population?

Generational Culture, "just their way of life" and basically a slap on the wrist IF EVER caught..
I once followed a poacher from our property all the way to his doorstep in Leon county. Called the GW and nothing was ever done to him.. He continued to cause us grief until we finally said the hell with that place...

Is it a cell cam that he put up? I'd take a mount off the wall and stick it barely in the frame and send him a few pics, then sit back and wait for him to show up.

Serious questions??? Good question if serious.

I would say it is a high population of low income trash population. We have land and a lot of meth around.

Put a ski mask on and drag a body bag full of corn in front of the camera and make a few dirt mounds about 6’ long just out of frame.

I guess with the right DA you could try to bust him. But if he got a lawyer I can't see him losing. Just no real proof he was hunting. Even with pictures with him holding a gun.

I understand trespassing laws. I've just always heard they give warnings. Even my local GW told me I better have purple posts, signs all over the fences etc..

I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see criminals getting convicted of these things anymore. At least not until they're serial offenders.

They are supposed to get warnings or served a no trespass warning but they can be arrested without it. They may get off in the end but can spend a night or 2 in county.
