I'm a little more excited about the season now. A treestand hanging injury left me with a torn bicep tendon. Shooting my Mathews V3 isn't going to happen until I'm well healed. My neighbor loaned me his crossbow and I'm getting familiar with it. I think it's going to work out just fine.

Blanco County is a great place to be. Lived here about 5 years now. Ag teacher at the high school. Great looking animals you have there. Maybe I'll run into some of this group in town someday this fall!

Yup. Radiologist said 40% tear. Trying to avoid surgery but I don't have my hopes up.

I drive right by the high school to get to the lease. We can hear the Friday night football games from the blind.

We have been hunting southwest of the high school since 1996.

Unfortunately the Axis donít make it on our side of the river. I can see them through my spotting scope across the river from my blind though.

All set up in The Garcia for my first ever crossbow hunt. Feeling good about it.

Michael is in the Elbow treestand about 150 yards to my west. It gets it's name from the fact I injured my elbow while we were hanging it.

Stay tuned...

They spooked. I don't know what gets into these critters. Certainly it's not the football game announcer I can hear clearly. It's 2nd and 5 for the bulldogs by the way.

I had a 90% tear and waited a year to see if it got any better. I had surgery to reattach 3 months ago. Feels a lot stronger now. Hope yours heals up quickly.

I ended up Changing hunting locations for the evening. It was a little sketchy trying to climb into the ďelbowĒ Gametamer with my backpack and camera gear. Not worth the risk.

Iím hunting Bomb Shelter Soith, a Krivoman blind tucked into an oak thicket.

As mentioned, three female blackbuck (does?) came in but got nervous and left. Shortly after, three WT does came in nervously, but then blew out as well.

I guess Iíll report here that I was invited to hunt a new ranch that a couple of buddies bought in Duval County. They are looking to aggressively remove mouths, so shooting young deer is encouraged!

I (intentionally) shot this nubbin yesterday afternoon from a quad pod at 25 yards. Smallest deer Iíve ever shot, but I bet itíll be quite tender! Apologies for the green light LDP!

I hunted there this morning (no luck) before making the trip here to Blanco to hunt this evening.

Hannah and Jeanette will join me tomorrow for the weekend.

All set at Garcia this morning. We have a Krivo blind overlooking both corn and protein feeders. The Axis really like the protein and consistently stay in the area.

Well, I was covered up in bucks! There were 10 or 11, total. There were probably three mature deer, but just way too many eyes to be able to get a shot. It was difficult to even get pics.

One of the bucks behind me caught movement as I was reaching for my bow and they all scattered. I think theyíll be back.
