Ok, been looking at getting a new Truck, do I need one NO, do I want one YES.
Bought my F250 Larit back in 2008, runs great and only 94,500 miles on it, came across a 2021 F250 larit 7.3 gas, has 22,000 miles on it, got them down to 71,500 out the door. I know the price's are insane now but do you guys ever see them going back to normal price's. With this green push and can't get parts or even order one, what does the Green screen say, got to make decision today.

God Bless

My .02 cents is things will never be back to pre-Covid normal. But if I’m wrong it will be years down the road. I bought my 2021 just months before things got insane. I just see greed completely consuming the auto industry now. I hope I’m wrong. Good luck Bish

Yes, things will go lower. Timeline, not sure. I do think there is about to be a huge crash in our economy. The Interest Rate will be moved up again to fight inflation, thus causing a full on recession. Inventory levels will pick back up due to the cost of financing a vehicle. Prices will drop to remain affordable.

If you don't need a new truck right now, wait. Prices are going to come down. A lot. And that doesn't seem like much of a deal to me. But I'm cheap.

That gasser is ok if you’ve never had a diesel before but if you Have owned a diesel you won’t like it, especially pulling in hilly country much less in the mountains. I don’t mean to upset those of you that have bit the hook on the gasser but they are turds in comparison.

You have averaged less than 7k miles a year. If your truck is problem free than I would hold onto it. 71k is a lot of coin to me just to look at it in the driveway. Then again if you've got the money and it doesn't effect your retirement and it will make you happy then go for it.
Not sure about car buying in the future but I guessing that full car lots with nice discounts are a thing of the past. Car companies are selling less units and making more money so why go back to the old business model.

If you don’t need it ‘now’, I’d wait until the ‘23 order bank is open and place my order. You’d be able to save money on that and have the newest body style.

for that price i would look at new ones, i have a 2022 diesel Lariat on order, that will be about 6K above that price out the door, if gas, it would have been less than that out the door (brand new)

I would not do it....id love a new truck as well.....I can indeed afford one, my 2017 is paid off and I'm gonna drive it till this silliness of truck prices is over or bite the bullet when I have no other choice and go get a brand new one and drive it till the wheels fall off of it....the mileage on your truck is low, you can wait another year and re evaluate things later if still wanting a new one....at the end of the day it's your money....do what makes u happy chief

We’re on the edge of a cliff looking out over a global recession. It’s being propped up until after midterms then D’s can blame a R majority congress for a collapsed economy leading up to ‘24. If you have a paid for, reliable vehicle, I would absolutely not take on $71k of consumer debt. Even if paying cash, it’s still a depreciating asset. If it is cash, I’d hold that cash & when the housing market drops, start buying stressed real estate with hard money. Once the cycle catches up in a few years you can cash out refi at lower rates & keep going or sell outright. Get a new truck now or be a millionaire in 3-4 years.

If you’re already a millionaire, buy the truck.

Nope. Gassers are turds compared to the 6.7 when you are doing work. Put 20k behind the gasser and watch it choke. You can’t choke the stroke......

If it were all highway miles and wanted comfort without the cost of running a diesel, I’d have my wife drive me around in a Cadillac!

No way I would pay 71K for a used F250 even if it was diesel

I would keep the 2008 as it sounds like it should be in very good shape AND IT IS PAID FOR

But only you can make the decision for you

I wouldn't. You have a reliable vehicle that is paid for. Prices right now are stupid. I know a lot of people trade in perfectly fine vehicles, but they also unload problem vehicles.
I won't spend that kind of money to take a gamble on those miles someone else put on it.

That diesel will still be running long after the gasser would of crapped out. I think you played it smart. Still a sharp looking truck.

Sounds like you made the right decision. Everyone considering this may want to call their insurance company for a quote on a new one before you buy! That may change your mind right there!

If you do not need a diesel, do not buy one. I have had 2, but I was towing a huge 5th wheel and work trailers loaded to the max.
Bought a 2020 F350 C/C 4x4 STX FX4 LB with the 7.3 gasser and love it. Only tow a 4 wheeler trailer and possibly my 30 hp Kubota to get serviced or fixed. Very happy with this truck and it will scream on the HWY and will pull when needed. Maybe not like the diesel, but it pulls what i need with no problem. Biggest thing is compared to prices today, it was $47,000 OTD new in April 2020.

No brainer, keep the 08.

Do like I do on my 09 Duramax. Look over it real good when you are doing fluid changes and routine maintenance for anything that needs to be done.
.
I just replaced my hydroboost, and power steering lines. They had been leaking for some time, but had recently gotten worse.

Keeping your ride in tip top condition keeps the urge for that new ride and high prices at bay.

I can load it up and have the confidence to drive it cross country at a moments notice for a hunt. Even though it is a little older I know it is very well maintained with fresh fluids and in perfect shape mechanically.
