My daughter was fortunate enough to draw antelope and mule deer tags in New Mexico this year. Last Sunday she took her got her first antelope at 311 yards with a with a muzzleloader after a two mile uphill hike and a 1,000 yard stalk with a massive storm cell barreling in. This was her first western hunt and, for a 13 year old, she hunted like a pro through some challenging situations and ominous conditions. She learned some valuable lessons, including the importance of rain gear when hunting the West. We will be headed back Thanksgiving week for mule deer.
