Left Nacogdoches about 8:30 this morning headed to my buddy's place at Mission Valley. Got to his house about 1:30 and we headed out to his camp at his grandmother's property. We are hanging around the camp watching the deer come to the feeder he has set up on the other side of his tank from the camp. We see some turkeys come in to feed so I know it is time to go. Go set up my blind, put out the decoys, and settle in for a late afternoon hunt. After about 30 minutes I see four hens come by. They leave and about another 30 minutes pass and I look thru the brush and see three toms, on is strutting. Finally get close enough for me to turn an arrow loose. Connected! Man was i excited. First critter I have killed with my bow in several years and first turkey. I am here in the middle of nowhere with no cord to connect my phone to my laptop to download the picture. When I get home I will post it. Tom had about 1-1/4 spurs and about an 8 inch beard. Now, lets see what the morning brings.
