    Bare Root Lost Pines?

Looking for about 100-200 Bastrop area bare root pine trees. Anybody know of a source?

Check with the forest service in your area. They might have that info.

Pretty sure those are just loblolly pines. You should be able to get those seedlings pretty easily.

Looks like Weyerhaeuser sells loblolly seedlings.

The "lost" pine is genetically adapted to the dryer climate around Bastrop. A standard loblolly pine will die from lack of moisture if grown in a climate dryer that east Texas.

If you say so but my Mother has a loblolly we planted from a bare root seedling through the arbor Day Found. probably 30 years ago, doing just fine in Grapevine. Spouse's family has a stand along their gate in Cooke Co along the Red River with another stand of loblolly on the neighbor's place up on the breaks above the river.

The Lost pines have been shown to be pretty close genetically to their East Texas neighbors.
Loblolly pine will grow in some pretty variable conditions and soil types. Lost pines are not a sub species.

True. After the fire there were many places selling pines and folks were buying them up to replant. They were not the lost pine and not many of them survived.
