Yep it is crazy. The worst one I had documented was on a buck Im pretty sure lost about 70-80 lbs from Oct to January. He was running buddies with a deer I shot in Oct that weighed in at 202 lbs. In the October pics he was every bit as heavy if not heavier than the buck I shot. He was a buck my son first found years earlier so it was his. I was the only one that saw that buck the entire season and it was from my truck and he was chasing a doe in the pasture during rut. My son comes in from college and told me if he saw him he would shoot him. I said good luck, no one has seen him all year while hunting. First evening the buck comes straight into the pen my son is hunting. The deer weighed 128 lbs. The skin on his body was like that of a Shar-Pei dog. Never saw anything like it before or after. I estimated most of my mature bucks would lose about 30-35 lbs from beginning to end of the season.
