Default Nueces River Retreat annual spring TBH trip - You ready?

I do not have details nailed down yet. Date will be March 13-22 time frame. I'll probably get there on the 13th and then others will show up later in the week. Place is near George West on the river.
This trip will be open to +/- 8 people. Mostly TBHers. It's just a group fishing trip. No cost except everyone pitches in food, fishing supplies, gas etc.

We need someone with a boat this year (or two boats) My boat was in bad shape and I sold it months ago not expecting this boat shortage to last this long.

If we don't have a boat we will just fish off the dock more. Will still be relaxing.

If you want to go speak up, but please make sure you can actually go. It's not first come first in. People who hunted the 587 Ranch get first choice and guys who fished the last couple years. We will work it all out.

Last years trip. https://discussions.texasbowhunter.c...ghlight=nueces

2019 trip. First post has 2 other trip links.

I’m following this thread. I’d like to go and have a 18ft center console. Just need to check deeper into my schedule before I commit.

If you have a boat please let us know if you can commit to going and the dates you can be there.

This trip is a little less that 4 weeks away. Normally I prep a ton leading up to it, get there early and set lines, gather fire wood, etc. This year I'm pretty busy but it will all work out.

Lets make this the best trip yet. Catch some wall hangers!

I'll put in for the 19-22 for my days off.
I'll probably be running out there for day trips.
Isn't there a boat ramp near by? Or do we need to launch at 59?

Good chance I'll have my 12 y.o. with me.

Launch a few houses down from my house. I'll need to check how deep or usable ramp is.

Fresh carp is 5x better if you can get one or two 1-2 days before the trip.

Lets start a list. Just a prelim list for now. Keep in mind March 13th will just be a get there and clean up/set up etc..Probably the 14th and 15th as well. Re-rigging jug lines hopefully setting some lines out.

Just put dates you want to attend for now. And if you have a boat. Even if someone can score a decent john boat we an paddle around that would help. Or maybe a boat I an rent for a week.

Banzai - ??

We got the floating dock turned sideways and new steps and a ramp so it's much easier to get on. Fish are biting good off the dock. Should be good in 2 weeks for our trip if air temps get a tad higher. Bait easy to catch also.

Looks like this trip will start on Sunday the 14th.

River is low. Not sure if the launch by my house will be usable for and boat over 18' Would probably be best to launch at the 59 bridge and come down river.

Fish are biting great. One could catch as many white bass as they wanted off the dock. Caught 4 decent catfish also. Didn't fish hard as we were there to set up and work.

Dock is all good to go. A tad over 4' deep on back side and over 8' deep on the far side. Crappie were right against the bank in 1-2' of water.

A few things we will need.
1. Charcoal and/or fire wood (if we want to cook over the fire pit). I have some fire wood but it's not oak or mesquite.
2. A cast net wouldn't hurt. I have a few but most need repairs.
3. Rechargeable spotlight for the boat.

4. Bring warm clothes in case you want to fish late at night.
5. Everyone bring a sleeping bag/pillow. We probably have enough but I won't want to be doing 10 loads of laundry after everyone leaves.
6. We will clean some but leave the cleaning lady some money to really clean after we leave. We will be tired that last day I promise.

Riverrat1 -Tim - March 14-22
Banzai - 15-19
Canoe - 16-17
JonB - 19-21

Add your name to the list if you want to go.
We have a total of 9 beds. So plenty of room for more people. Load your freezer with all the fish you care to clean and hang out with TBHers.

The "dock" or pontoon boat has been there for as long as I can remember. Hopefully it's built to withstand the next flood. There's only 5 steps and the rest is a retractable ramp.

BuckHunter332 - maybe 19-21 - maybe take some of us bow fishing?

Looking like a good group. I still haven't had time to plan properly for this trip as far as food goes. We only have a small (real small) grill for outside cooking but could cook over the fire if someone brings good cooking wood. Someone can bring a smoker if some guys want to hang out and cook on Saturday.

I'm heading out tomorrow to start getting things ready. PM or text me if anyone needs directions or if plans change.

If I get lines out I plan to start keeping fish and cleaning them so there should be plenty for everyone to take home without us cleaning fish all day Sunday (the last day we're there).

I'll try to update again maybe Sunday if I get to fishing Saturday night.
