Not a finished artifact. Been worked but the sharp end looks like an accidental break.

Definitely a bit of the tip is broken off, but it sure seems to fit the hand ever so perfectly to be used as a gut hook. The places made into finger grooves are extremely smooth compared to the rest of it. The curved part is still sharp enough to cut you. Tip of the point is what seems messed up though.

Thanks for the input! Have y'all ever heard of having them tested/analyzed? Like some kind of carbon dating any material left inside the cracks in the rock? It would be interesting to know what and when they were grinding. Hell, maybe I've watched too much Oak Island.

Virtually all the types have been carbon dated. Charcoal from immediate context is best on dug, undisturbed sites. Anyway most artifact ages are well established.

My dad was a huge collector and spent all of his free time looking for artifacts mainly all iver Central Texas. He even had a native american art and artifacts gallery back in the early 80’s. He passed away in the mid ‘90s and unfortunately my mother got rid of just about everything of value. I ended up w a couple of small cases of arrowheads that I’ve had stashed away for 20 years. Here’s one someone told me was a pretty good one.

Being a knapper they probably stopped because of the stack (ridge) on the right but from the looks of it in the pics it seems it could be removed from the little white point on the left side… I don’t have it in my hand but it seems that way.

I was at my parent’s house recently and came across these I received from a relative when I was a kid. My parents couldn’t remember where it came from but are thinking it was from a deceased relative in Pennsylvania. They are all glued onto the wood board. Do these look authentic?

Found this one about 45 miles north of Del Rio in northern Val Verde county. The side that protrudes out is different than I’ve seen, curious to what y’all might think it may be.

That's awesome. I would love to find one out of this material. I would think that Polk County should have some being so close to that deposit. I have a friend with 50+ acres along Long King Creek and I plan on hitting it as soon as the water gets down a little more.

Yes quite a few manning artifacts have come from Livingston. The formation goes farther north than the map shows. I have over 300 points made of it.

Wow. I'm a novice but have a big interest and more so lately. Growing up in the Big Thicket and spending a lot of time in the Ozarks in my early 20's I've found some things but never hunted seriously. I plan on doing more of it. I've been doing a lot of reading on material and point types.

All I know is somewhere in Missouri. It was bought out of a collection at an estate sale and most of the collection was from there. Some had the county and some didn't. This one did not have the county marked.
