Its a old southern tradition. My Grandmother always played it and the tradition is carried on by all in my family.

We always opened all of our gifts late Christmas Eve, after getting home from late service at the church. Christmas Day morning was when the “ elves” would come and bring us the nessities , batteries for what ever we got, socks, underware, clothing, bullets powder etc.

My 85 year old Uncle called to get me this morning. It made his day and mine.
My son also got me a few minutes ago.

Just a old southern tradition dating back into the 1800's. Something my family has always done.
