Hell yeah, good to know there's some fellow PWD fans on here.
![]() I've listened to them since Killing With a Smile and have grown up with them. Really awesome to hear them evolve over the years. Going to be seeing them when they come to Houston next month, already a sold out show! |

Got tickets for Pantera/Lamb Of God in Houston on August 17th. It'll be a family bonding event: my sister (who has never been to a rock/metal show) is going with me

Sepultura is awesome in concert. Saw them at Ozzfest years ago. I saw Motionless in White a couple months ago and going to Falling in Reverse next month. I need to get me a ticket to the Sepultura concert would love to see them again.

![]() Half of Pantera is dead and the band was dead long before LOG rose to prominence. Many would say Pantera paved the way for LOG and others. They certainly brought something brand new to the genre while they existed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think he meant more as in Lamb Of God will have a better show/performance during the upcoming tour. At least that's the way I took it. And I like I said before, I'm assuming they will. Considering the way Pantera partied during the 90s (and Phil almost overdosing on heroin), Phil & Rex being able to get up on stage & play the songs is a win in my book.

I laughed. I guess I have turned into my dad. I listened, and I just don't get it. My son listens to this stuff. He is running buddies with the drummer from lamb of god. When it comes to the vocals I just can't.

Mastodon and Gojira are April 28. Saw Mastodon and Opeth a year ago and that laser show and AI graphics were crazy. Recommend checking out Oceans of Slumber, Black Crown Initiate, and Rivers of Nihil as some different twists to metal. Each have a progressive side but all do it in a completely different way. |

Musically, I prefer Pantera. With that being said though, I wouldn't have an issue with someone saying that both bands at their peak were equally as talented. It would have been nice to see the "real" Pantera lineup tour with Lamb Of God, but I'm looking forward to the upcoming shows regardless.

Before Covid, saw Houston's Oceans of Slumber fronting for Insomnium in Dallas at Trees. Cammie Gilbert is a strong vocalist. They toured Texas in December, 2022. Eluveitie and Omnium Gatherum are touring Texas together in March. I like both bands, but prefer the original lineup of Eluveitie. Got Covid attending my last concert in Austin, so haven't decided on going.

Lorna Shore… Sun Eater. I’m not a big fan of the band, but that song is a banger! My son has been trying to get me to like them for a while. That song turned me around a bit.

Lamb of God and Pantera aint the same thing, like Slayer and Lamb of God aren’t the same thing. Lamb of God is by themselves.

My son roped me into going to Mastadon, Gojira and Lorna Shore in April. I’m a big dude and an absolute target in a pit, and I have a feeling that pit is going to be pretty violent! Hahaha can’t wait!

I'm not a metal guy, but i really enjoy music and have read and kept up with this thread for fun. I always find the 'this band sucks' and 'that band sucks' trash talking amusing. it seems particularly pervasive among metal heads. It's good times. But the 'Pantera Sucks" commentary in particular put me in mind of an episode from back in they day.
We'll all remember that back in the day, at the height of the Dallas Stars Stanley Cup days, Pantera came up with the Dallas Stars them song. This was also shortly after KTCK, The Ticket, came on the air in DFW. Well somehow the Ticket guys got to know the boys in Pantera. Vinnie was a semi-regular guest on the Hardline. Well, one day the Hardline had a local band from the metropolis of Blue Mound in studio, Hellified Funk Crew (HFC). Side note: At one point HFC was sued by the Kentucky Fried Chicken folks for appropriating the Colonel Sanders KFC logo, and putting devil horns on him for the HFC logo, funny. Anyway the kids from HFC played a tune in studio, actually pretty good as i recall, and was enjoying their trip to the Ticket Studio. Soon enough Vinnie from Pantera called into the show and was talking hockey. M. Rhyner made the mistake of giving the ringleader of HFC the opportunity to talk to Vinnie. Whereupon that kid lit into to Vinnie, began telling him how much Pantera sucked, and went off. After several seconds Rhyner got the kid off the air, and Vinnie was pretty cool about it all. But i was reminded that there is not much tension like band tension. I know the story suffers in my retelling, but maybe there's a couple of folks out there that remember it, and the memory will spark a smile. Good times. Carry on... |
