    Velvet axis down.

It’s been a fun ride having all my boys home to hunt with me. Many of you saw my post last week on the big whitetail buck my middle son ended up losing. That was a tough deal and we have spent many hours since looking for him. My youngest son wanted to try out a new broadhead he heard about so we went by Leading Edge archery and picked up a pack of G5 MegaMeat.
We had a nice velvet axis come in and he let the MegaMeat fly. Shot looked back on video so i didn’t take any chances this time. I called my neighbor
Clark Grabarkewitz and he brought Sissy and LuLu to help. This buck was in a nasty cedar thicket and the dogs made short work of finding him 70 yards out. That MegaMeat broadhead punched the biggest pass thru hole i have ever seen. Big thanks to Clark for making sure Rowdy got his buck. Clark is listed on the tracking thread here if anyone ever needs him.

I was shooting at leading edge yesterday, Did you come to the range to have him finish sighting in at 20?

Yes we did. You were probably standing right next to us.

If you mount him in velvet will it eventually come off?

Not if done correctly. I had my velvet mule deer done and they freeze dried the antlers. Velvet is still good as day one two plus years later.
