I had pulled an 18 footer, 2 5/16" ball so heavier axles, loaded with 175 t-posts and 70 hog panels when we moved down south in March and got better MPGs than the 20' with the tall gate completely empty.

      I was in shock.

Wow! I have been wanting to add a gate to mine to get away from messing with ramps but never considered how much it would hurt the fuel mileage. 90% of the time if I am pulling the trailer somewhere longer than 15 miles though it is to haul the mule, can't be anymore of a wind drag than that thing.

If I can do it anybody can do it brother. I had never touched a mig welder until 2008 after watching D~MO build some big feeders. Got some advice from him and off I went.

This was the first thing I ever built with it.

              Good looking work
I have a folding gate trailer as well and love it.
Watch them hands and fingers when folding and unfolding it

Expanded metal is a NAAAASTY wind drag, too many edges! I get better mileage hauling my ~3000lb Toyota 4Runner on the trailer, than a Kawasaki Mule, because of the expanded metal headache rack.

That looks slick, man! Nice work.

Nice job. Any numbers on the fuel mileage improvement?

No sir. We haven’t made another lease trip yet. Going the later part of July.
