question- any insulation on the sub floor? If not do you wish you had?
It was a fun build, my wife and daughter helped out a lot as well.

If i could go back i would insulate the subfloor, it’s cold to walk on for sure. Hopefully the rock skirting will help a little bit by blocking the wind.
I’ve thought about going underneath and insulating as well, i can get to almost all of it before it gets to tight to the ground.

Finally delivered my rock out to the cabin. Got about 1.5 tons to start with. Dry fit a few just to see how it looks. Should be fun!
Going to dig a shallow footer and pour quickcrete first for a base then motor them to it. It’ll be a dry stack look.

One more side done, pouring footer tomorrow around the front porch and hopefully knock out the stone too. It’s a short stack.

Then I’ll form up a 12x12 slab in the covered parking and pour it. Frame in an access and storage door and then i can finish the stone. That’ll be the tallest area to stack it.

Very nice. I have really enjoyed following this build. Thanks for taking the time to share.

                          Front done.
I’m having second thoughts about the concrete slab, it’ll be more work than I care to do and I’m not hiring out any work on this build.
calculated 2 yards with the footers and I’m not into mixing 90 sacks in a wheel barrel or mixer, even with some help and doing both that would take a long while.
So I’m going to stack the rock under there, then make a border with the left over around the parking area and where the rain runs off the roof and pour crushed rock in there.

You did a great job with the rock!

The rock looks great! Really adds to the cabin.

What about doing a dry-pour slab? That size wouldn't be too bad to do in two sections (6x12). Just a thought...

I though about that yesterday.. I’ve never used that method but i bet it would work. Just parking a side by side in there i could probably reduce it to 3” thick as well and add some more aggregate as long is a have a footer around the corners where i drive in.

I started the rock today under there. I’ll figure it out and make a decision soon. One more day of rock and I’ll be done with that part.
