    Estes Park

Headed to Estes Park next week. Any good places to eat or cool things to do? Waiting to see if Trail Ridge Road will be open.

Was there a couple weeks ago. We ate at Claire’s. It was very good!

        Elkins distillery.

Bird and jim for dinner is a MUST

        Bighorn for breakfast

The rock inn for the bacon wrapped dates, music and cocktails

Rocky mountain national park for views

I'd pay for a bottle of elkins apple whiskey....

        Look for these around town....

        Did I mention Elkins whiskey?

Elk are calving, stay clear of any cows they will stomp the snot out of you.
Good chance you'll have afternoon thunderstorms or rain showers, it's that time of the year.
Tons of snow up high and creeks should be fairly swift right now. Trail Ridge Rd is not open yet and may be a while depending on storms, good snow last week.

The Trailhead restaurant at the Fall River Visitor's Center is mediocre.
We stayed at the Fawn Valley Inn and it was close by.

Great hiking trails at very high altitude. I had to take extra heart medicine to get my heart back in rhythm, but it was worth it. My wife who does not hike enjoyed the Jeep tours. Some huge mule deer and elk, even in town. September is less busy and lots of bugling then.

Mariana Butte is a great GC. May be busy call ahead.

On the news tonight, Trail Ridge Road is now open. Tons of snow up there though.
