One blowout will do about $5000 or more in fender/ body damage
Not worth the risk of pushing 5 years or 50,000 miles, I do the same on trailers

When I get to wear bars I get my Dremel and cut the wear bars out..

2/32” tread depth is the fail limit on state inspections. If you dont have a depth gauge, using a penny to see lincolns noggin is the rule of thumb.

I replace them at 4/32 unless they are separating or vibrating then they get replaced sooner. I do too much driving to not have good tires.

Much agreed. Also a blowout almost ALAWAYS happens at the most inopportune time.

You drive on highways at highway speeds or more with the wire showing and not going to replace them, you are facing a blowout and possibly killing yourself and others. Very irresponsible. Around town with that type of wear, I understand.
I have had blowouts on pickups pulling a 5th wheel and know the damage they can do along with blowouts on big trucks, box trucks not semi's, and can tell you that is not fun!

                  Same here.

I change my tires out when they fail to pass the old penny test.

X2, this is the plan, but doesn't always work out this way.

This is texas and dry rot will get you a blow out and cause a deadly accident not worth it to me
