Cow people, can I trouble you for a quick thought.

I have a cow, about 5 years old, very good animal.

Wouldn’t eat today. Just stood by the trough while others ate.
I do feed probably more than I should on a daily basis. She still looks good, first time I noticed it.

    Should I be concerned?
    Possible issues?

    As always, thanks.

She had a calf March 18th last year. I think to early for that.

Any chance she's ingested hay netting?

Is her nose wet (normal) or dry looking, even after she licks it?

Ears and head in the normal up position? Or ears down head down?

                Ears and head up.
I try and remove all hay netting, but there is always a chance.
I didn’t look that closely at her nose but I will.
I have never taken a cows temp, I will google that.

Ok, I can put hands on this cow, but I don’t have a squeeze chute, don’t think she would tolerate a rectal thermometer.

                    Nose appears of normal wetness.

Anything around the bottom of her jaw area swollen?

She may have a piece of hay stuck in her gums or back jaw area. had it happen a few times during winter. Usually when i have found it there jaw was swollen some underneath.

Crap i guess you posted pictures as i was typing. Doesnt look like anthing is swollen. But it could have just happened.

Well, she certainly had been eating good before this came up! LOL. She looks great. Is she drinking water ok?

Yep. Probably should post your question on the Yellowstone thread. That’s kind of the TBH bunkhouse where they all hang out.
