need small gears made for son's school project

my son is needing some small (approx. 1"-2") for a school project. I helped him design them in autocad. he then printed them on heavy cardstock on a cricket machine and thought that would work but the card stock is still just paper and tends to bend. the gears could either be plastic or metal. does anyone on here know where I could get him something like that without breaking the bank?

Seems like this would be a easy job for a 3d printer. I am no help but maybe someone here has one.

        A few options:

Locally, you might try contacting TXRX Labs (https://www.txrxlabs.org/), or Northworks Digital Factory (http://www.northworks3d.com/)

        Online, maybe Shapeways (https://www.shapeways.com/), iMaterialise (https://i.materialise.com/en), or 3DHubs (https://www.3dhubs.com/)

if you have facebook post on there about needing something 3D printed. Usually a friend of a friend knows someone that has one. They are getting to be pretty affordable and more people have them.

So you have a CAD drawing? What thickness do they need to be? How accurate do they need to be?
If you have a CAD drawing, I could cut some out tomorrow, out of aluminum, mild steel or stainless. If the drawing is good, has no problems I could cut them out inside of a 20 minutes, tomorrow.

Dang I was going to say I can 3D print them but the dude above has a metal shop. Can’t beat that.

Send me the file and I can cut them on a water knife at work next week and drop them in the mail to you.

He could probably make gears out of the cardstock using a laminate technique. Using a high strength glue to layer many cutouts together until they reach the needed strength.

Also check your local library. Ours has a 3D printer you can use for cheap.
