my son is needing some small (approx. 1"-2") for a school project. I helped him design them in autocad. he then printed them on heavy cardstock on a cricket machine and thought that would work but the card stock is still just paper and tends to bend. the gears could either be plastic or metal. does anyone on here know where I could get him something like that without breaking the bank?

A few options:
Locally, you might try contacting TXRX Labs (https://www.txrxlabs.org/), or Northworks Digital Factory (http://www.northworks3d.com/)
Online, maybe Shapeways (https://www.shapeways.com/), iMaterialise (https://i.materialise.com/en), or 3DHubs (https://www.3dhubs.com/)

If you have a CAD drawing, I could cut some out tomorrow, out of aluminum, mild steel or stainless. If the drawing is good, has no problems I could cut them out inside of a 20 minutes, tomorrow.
