Just wanted to share and blow some steam off. Long story short, I wanted to buy this buck for our dmp pen last year and my friend/land owner shot me down. He was gonna be a lot cheaper than the one we bought. Don’t get me wrong, the one we bought is a monster but not as pretty as this one.

He did make some babies though, out of 17 does, I’m confident I’ve seen 16 fawns.

Technically I picked him, he wanted a different one and I shot him down, but we agreed on him. I guess we agreed to disagree and picked a great buck. Just a shame he died.

I agree with you Marco. OP used the Better looking buck, but both are studs.

In reality, you wouldn’t have gone wrong with any of them. Glad you got some fawns out of the deal.

So to throw a little kink in the story, we had the original buck in the DMP pen for 2 weeks before we got the does. We found our original DMP buck dead 4 days after the does showed up. How many does did he breed before he died? Does were from the high fence part of the Chapparossa, Maverick County, none had fawns before the 201 days so they weren’t bred before they got there. This all happened around December 13, then we were blessed by the original person who sold us the the first buck. He gave us a loaner for free, after all the paper was done through twims and tpwd, we were loaned this buck.

I’m telling you, it is a pain in the “A**” if this ever happens to anyone, we were lucky that twims and tpwd were working quickly for us and the breeder had all his ducks in a row to make this happen, since the last buck was a breeder for him and he was sent to us as a “replacement”, he had to release him on his property and alive today.

Grayson, why even post? Matt is a stand up guy just trying to improve the ranch he is associated with. Pretty sure Michael had a post about user like you earlier. Matt keep up the good work. Even with the loaner you will get some great deer out that cross.

DMP's work! Fastest way to change your herd in my opinion, besides just bringing in new blood. Loosing deer is part of the game unfortunately.

We lost a giant native 3 year old this year and never figured out what happened. One day he was fine, next day he was dead. Continued luck with your program!

I would bet most were bred by the loaner. Would be rare for that many to be in heat the exact 3.5 days he was in there.
We got TTT does from the chaparosa and they have done well for us.

I agree. Wouldn’t be surprised if he covered 2-3 of them in that 4 day window, but I bet most were bred by the loaner.
