Up land bird hunting and dogs

Just dove and quail for these ladies. Dam (right) and offspring (left).
We’ve since added a third. Don’t have a recent picture but she’s now pushing 70 pounds. Incredible working dog.
I enjoy watching the dogs work equally as much as shooting some days.

I am looking forward to the next hunting season where Ryker will really learn from what hunting is all about once we start shooting birds.
Our main focus here on the Escarpment is Redwing and Grey wing francolins.
The hunter needs to be on top of his shooting game as they are pocket rockets.
Both species are considered the champagne birds of the game bird species we have in South Africa.

This is Gretchen, she turned 9 this year and still going strong. I trained her myself(technically), with the help of an excellent trainer that showed me how. I love this breed, I'll have one(or more) as long as I'm able to work them. Actually, I'm thinking real hard about getting a puppy in 2019. The plan would be for the pup to learn from the veteran.
