Up land bird hunting and dogs

I have started this thread on the "other side of the ranch page"

But it was suggested I move it here....

Please share with us your photos of your dogs and where you hunt upland birds and waterfowl.

I really enjoy seeing working dogs in action.

Just dove and quail for these ladies. Dam (right) and offspring (left).

We’ve since added a third. Don’t have a recent picture but she’s now pushing 70 pounds. Incredible working dog.

I enjoy watching the dogs work equally as much as shooting some days.

        In for others’ pics

Here is video of my Drahthaar, Maggie, pointing a pair of quail that my dad doubled up on. Pretty special video as they are both nearing the ends of their hunting careers.

She also gets after some waterfowl

Dangit! I’m usually pretty good at this interwebs thing, but I can’t seem to get the YouTube to display the preview and the pic came in sideways!

My Shorthair Bella. She’s 10 now, and still hunts hard. All the Drathaar pictures sure make me miss mine—he was awesome.

                        Beautiful dogs!

I am looking forward to the next hunting season where Ryker will really learn from what hunting is all about once we start shooting birds.

Our main focus here on the Escarpment is Redwing and Grey wing francolins.

The hunter needs to be on top of his shooting game as they are pocket rockets.

Both species are considered the champagne birds of the game bird species we have in South Africa.

Wish we had quail to hunt, I'm South of fort worth... I'd trade pig hunts for upland all day.

I have a jagd so more flusher and retriever but sure love to watch her go...

If you like working dogs check out "the hunting dog podcast"

This is Gretchen, she turned 9 this year and still going strong. I trained her myself(technically), with the help of an excellent trainer that showed me how. I love this breed, I'll have one(or more) as long as I'm able to work them. Actually, I'm thinking real hard about getting a puppy in 2019. The plan would be for the pup to learn from the veteran.
