Anyone have suggestions for an outfitter for a black bear hunt? My wife has always wanted to shoot a bear and have a rug made. I’m trying to surprise her for our tenth anniversary. She’s not really interested in color phases as much as just getting a big black bear.

I’ve got a good buddy up here in Washington that runs bear hunts. He’s booked this season already but he is about to start booking for next year. I’m his first hunter for this season. My daughter shot a bear with him last season. Cascade Mountain Outfitters is the name.

My son and I went here https://mountainspiritoutfitters.com/ British Columbia spot and stalk only, which we thought was great. Saw the plenty of bears every day and ended up with 2, 6+ ft bears. We rifle hunted but probably could have got it done with a bow.

Look for a Boat Trip hunt out of BC. Greatness and fairly easy hunt, great meals, incredible views and high success rate.

SaskAdrenaline outfitters in Saskatchewan is the place to go. Mike is a great dude, and has more record bears than he does tags every year. Every hunter in our 6 man group shot pope and young bears which to me wasn’t really what it was about, it just speaks for the kind of bears they have. Also the campo is located on a lake and you can fish for poise and walleye when your not hunting. Go check out his website.

Granted that is if we ever get to go back to canada

I have dates available this Spring out of Homer and Whittier(PWS). Boat hunts off a 65’ delta or a 50’ delta. Canada won’t happen, they will keep the border closed until July. 5 day DIY trips that include fishing. Ninilchik.com.

If you are willing to go to Canada (when you can) Wizard Lake Outfitters is who I went with. I believe you can still harvest 2 bears per person in Alberta.

If you are interested in an above average size color phase black bear, I would get in touch with Calvin Redhouse in the Navajo Nation. He hunts bear with hounds, don't have to sit on a barrel of donuts and trees bears until you find one you like. Go to Rez Hounds on facebook and you can see photos and video of hunts. He shoots for CARNIVORE and is a good friend of mine...about like family.
