Which 9MM round is best to dispatch a pig?

    I have 115 Grain
    FMJ
    Critical Defense
    Jacketed Hollow point.

I've been carry FMJ but not sure if that is best.
Not sure I want to use the Critical Defense it's like $2/rd.....

What are your experiences using the aforementioned?

I doubt the pig will care which round you use. Are you talking about shooting them in a trap? Hollow points probably do the most damage but we shoot them in traps with FMJ all the time.

I use cheap fmj 115s, they don't complain too much.

Behind the ear with an FMJ. Can't remember the last one that had anything to say about it.

FMJ would be the best one for pigs, no need to waste premium ammo.

I asked a similar question just to confirm my thoughts the other day because I have always had a 40 or 45. The resounding answer was a FMJ. Another TBHer suggested a hardcast flat nose if you could find them and they aren't cheap. I'm sticking with FMJ...

Shot several in the head with .45 home defense type rounds that kinda grinned and squealed, Fmj will cure them of that.

.22 or FMJ. Anything will do the trick on an injured pig

Ear hole in a trap isn't mostly bs. Trapped hogs will face you 99% of the time. Draw an imaginary line from eyes to the opposite ears. Shot where the lines cross.

I kill most of my trapped pigs with a .22 revolver shoot them right between the eyes and they're dead.

I might have misunderstood the question. I thought we were talking about dispatching a wounded pig up close and personal with a 9mm while tracking. In a trap, it would be a 22, 22mag or 17 HMR in the earhole/lightswitch...

The best round is the one you have in your gun at the time.

Shot a pig at about 6ft with hornady 9mm hollow points out of a sig 938 and they wouldn’t penetrate the skull. It was a fairly large pig but couldn’t believe it. Felt awful afterwords for making it suffer so much. Shot it 6 times! Use fmj’s.
