Got into stand late and got set up in the box blind. Didn't want to sit in the tree due to the high winds and man did it pay off. Seen a flash of a buck around 8AM and immediately seen he was big. He was moving from one thicket to another. Wasn't long after, I seen him exit the second thicket and was headed straight for a deep creek draw I have to my right. I whistled and he stopped broadside at 95 yards. I squeezed the trigger and let the Savage 243 ring out. The 100g Silvertip to the neck put him down in a hurry.
Soon as he hit the ground, a doe appeared from the draw. No idea she had been there.
Tarsals black and swolled up. If the rut isn't on, then I dont know what the rut is. Raining and north wind blowing 20+.
He's my biggest buck ever and will have 13 scorable points.
