Winchester M70 Bolt & Safety Problem

I have a 1970 Winchester M70. I bought it a while back and put it away. When I got it out yesterday, I noticed the safety was stuck in the fire position and will not move the the other 2 positions. I know you are not suppose to move safety with the bolt removed because it un-cocks the bolt. I can uncock it and cock the bolt back, and I can also disassemble the bolt, but nothing I do will make the safety move. Anyone have any experience at this. TIA

Have you tried penetrating oil if that doesn’t work try a hair dryer sometimes the gunk will seize up and a little heat helps break it loose

Want to bump this back up

I’ve got a buddy with the same issue. Safety always stuck on fire.
Did you ever figure out a solution or take it to get fixed? Rifle looks and shoots great, just need the safety to work properly

Common problem with after market triggers on pre 2008 M70. If it's an aftermarket trigger, it's best to take it to a competent Smith for proper fitting.

The fish are biting and there's hogs to be kill-t. Gotta go!
