Surprised they even had to say it. Im a vet and find this highly disrespectful. Just my opinion. Im sure Im not allowed one on here.
In regards to your opinion we all have one right or wrong..I just spoke to it from a different perspective. Some may disagree but opinions are always allowed.

In over 1 million miles of business travel, I have unfortunately experienced this on multiple occasions. Never fails to have the same impact. Gladly I've never seen/heard anyone on the plane grumble or show any disrespect although the pilots and crew don't always honor the event the way yours did. Prayers up for that family.

Unfortunately, now days most people don’t have a clue how to show respect for anyone or anything.
Therefore they have to be told.
God rest his soul.

Thanks for the write up. Four US Marines were KIA in Afghanistan a few days ago via an IED attack. With the exception of a few blurbs here and there I didn't see a **** thing on the news. I guess the media has "more important" things to report. These marines were from the 25th Marine Regiment - a reserve unit in New York I believe.
One of the strongest emotional services when a marine or soldier is killed, at least in my view, is what's called Last Roll Call. A Marine company in information, usually family and friends are there, and names are called out. Some of the names are service members who are there but the focus is on the KIA. Below are a few examples.
