    Dewberry pie

Spent the morning picking dewberries, thought I would take y’all on the journey from the fence line to the dessert plate

Note: Jasper probably ate more than he picked

We came home with just over 4 cups of dewberries.
    Perfect for one pie!

    Preheat your oven to 450

Start with 4 cups of dewberries (pick out the bugs and sticks)

    Add 3/4 cups of sugar

We shake it in a big bowl instead of stirring to try to keep the berries from getting smushed

As y’all probably already know, my wife is obsessed with sourdough, so she made us some sourdough pie crusts a few days ago in anticipation. I can get here recipe upon request.

(The pillsbury pie crusts are also great and the two pack is perfect because I use one for the bottom and one for the top.)

Put pie crust in pie plate, and add berries

Lay cut strips of crust over top (I prefer the lattice because it lets some steam escape, anytime I try to do a full top, it makes the pie soupy)

Beat an egg and brush it over the top

    Then drizzle with sugar

In the oven at 450 for 15 minutes, then drop to 350 for 30 minutes
Note: I like to put foil on the bottom rack to catch any drippings

If Jasper didn't eat more than he saved for pie, I'd be worried about him.

      That looks good!

Heak yea! My boy and I picked some this morning ourselves. Gonna whip this up in the morning. May add some bluebell on top.

Sounds good. I like making cobbler just because its easier but that looks quite tasty

Memories. I miss the lady that made me those pies when I was finishing college in Nac. She could barely see, but she could bake blindfolded. And I was always starving.

Somebody sprayed the vegetation by the RR near where I live. Used to pick before the animals got them. Now the plants are gone.
