I ran out to Palestine for a quick trip yesterday. I caught a few really dark black crappie in 18” of water right up next to the bank/reeds. Water temp was 59 degrees.

I am taking off Thursday and Friday and hope to take my boys fishing so I hope the water temp keeps rising and they turn on. The boys are out of school this week for Spring Break.

That is gonna be a useful tool, I can see it determining jig size and colors too.

I have been neglecting posting fishing on here for what reason IDK. I got a friendly call out on it on a fishing board. So I will post some reports now like I should have been doing.

Had a few friends out at the Barge on Saturday afternoon at about 3 and we ended up with 54 I believe. I iced those down and hit it Sunday at 9 am and after 2 hours I had 22 more. All fish came from about 45' depth and 15-17' deep. Most on minnows, rosey reds, few on white jigs Sunday am. On my barge it says the water temp is 58. I am no expert but some of these fish looked spawned out. Maybe they were just not fully developed, but they were small egg sacks. Lots of fun and 16 lbs of fillets.

It really is all they say it is.
I struggle with trying to video and fish at the same time. I had a lot of fish shoot up out of the brush and nail my jig half way down.
It was cool to watch.

I finally got all my ducks in a row and plan on selling a few trips if anybody wants to catch some fish on LOP

I have a wide hair to catch some with a fly rod while they are up shallow.
Made up a few weightless jigs to use.
Has anyone caught them this way?

Yes. Years and years ago I did it once. You could see the fish in about 12-18" of water.

The fish are biting, and there's hogs to be kilt. Gotta go!

Crappiefest is March 30th on Fork! $75 entry fee with $25 of it going straight to NOCC. National ovarian cancer society. Tried linking the poster but can't get it to work today. Look it up on crappie anglers of Texas and all the info is there.

So Buff, when you are watching the screen do you see the fish hit the lure before you actually feel it? My pocket money is starting to burn, lol. That is cool.

I watched a video of a guide on Rayburn and he was watching the Panoptix and he was telling his clients ďset the hook, heís got it!Ē On bites they hadnít fealt. They were fishing with minnows and you could see their minnows and even see their line on the Panoptix.

You have to turn away or you will jerk it away from them, with a jig.

Default Lake Belton today

We had a good day today on the crappie. Most on minnows and some on jigs. Fish are 10-15í deep in 40í of water. We caught 57 and had a great time. The Fishing is getting better by the day, well maybe until this cold front?

These little speckled fish tick me off I canít figure them out...plus my partner wonít cooperate and follow the rules! We went to Palestine yesterday, I rigged him up a swim bait rod for bass and he caught this

Rigged him up a dropshot rod for bass and he caught this

Rigged him up a crappie rod and he caught this

...and on his other crappie rod he was casting at turtles and caught one!

We found water temps 4 degrees colder than they were on Sunday in Ledbetter. We did find some 62 degree water up north and watched a guy catching some crappie right on the bank.

I'm itching to get on the water bad. But the wind isn't good for my 17' bass tracker. I'm thinking about making a run up to Bonham for a while by myself since no one is off and wants to go with me.

We ended up with 30 from Williams Creek..Took 5 of us to get em between 3 docks. But most fish were caught between 1- 4 pm in 2 - 6 ft ftw. Water temp was 57.4
Only 2 fish this morning, today was slow for us. The wind won, my dock had straight line winds for 2 days. It gets old, unless fish are biting.

No unders caught but a few thrown back. Pictures dont do justice. The small ones are 12". We landed several 2s and most had eggs

They hit every color and some minnows. No magic bait, but dark blues seemed favorable.

Next week should be great.
