Fished this morning.
Tea colored water, tide ripping out, tons of bait. No fish. Not even a bite.

Default 2019 Saltwater Fishing Thread

We fought the fog yesterday and I ended up catching the only 2 fish of the day. 1) 26Ē red and a 24Ē. Water looked great, couldnít find any bait.

Couldnít buy a bite in EMB, hit up chocolate on the way back and caught the two reds there.

Man it has been hard fishing for me. In January I have been 3 times to East Matty. I have been skunked all three times. January was a rough month of winter fishing. We could not find the fish. I think we may just wait till march to start fishing. lol

I haven't fished since October and I'm starting to get the itch. Never been down to Baffin, thinking about changing that. How long is it "Trophy" trout season down there? I grew up in Lake Jackson and fished all the surrounding areas, and I've been to Lower Laguna Madre a couple times when my dad was living in Harlingen but never tried Baffin/Rockport/Corpus area.

I guess if there were a trophy trout season it would be from mid January through May in my opinion. My favorite time to chase them with lures is mid February through March before the spring winds start cranking.

I use the Coastal Elite for 99% of our inshore trips. They are extremely lightweight yet very durable plus with the stainless steel spring micro-guides, you will never have to worry about them, ever!

If I'm seeing it correctly looks like the upper coast 5 trout limit passed. Really won't affect me much as I fish Matagorda mainly, but the Galveston boys are sure in an uproar about it.

They donít vote till March 19-20, but I assume it will pass. Iím also a matagorda guy so it doesnít matter to me really. Although I believe it should have been statewide all along.

I wanted to fish this morning but, Iím totally against fishing in the cold.

Headed to Baffin for a quick one day trip, weather is supposed to be mild in the morning so we are taking advantage of it.

Does anyone have a current tuna guide recommendation for Venice? I haven't fished out of there for six years. Last time I used Superstrike Charters. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Based on science with data or your feelings? Just asking......

I keep seeing all these pro 5 fish limit replies and am very curious if these replies are based on science!

And if you compare galveston bay system with any other bay system especially LLM that is apples to oranges.

Kinda like climate change I guess...........

---------

We have not fished lately but will report soon.

I braved the cold Saturday morning right after the rain moved out. Will get better pictures from the video footage later. I was on the water for just under two hours and that was enough for me. The original plan was to get a limit of reds then head out for specs but by the time I had my three I couldnít feel my fingers or feet so I called it a day.

Right on! Nice haul. I hear you on cutting the trip short. I hit east bay Thursday evening, and it was like deadliest catch crossing the bay. Planned on fishing til about 10 that night, but was back at the harbor by 7 with only 2 specs in the boat.

True, but 5 fish makes for a quickie before work. The down side is driving 2 hours to keep 5

Left the ramp at 5am this morning to heavy fog and 50* temps. At 5:05am we had this guy suicide dive into our windshield!! Talk about waking you up. Got to our first spot and immediately started sticking keeper trout. Mostly on devils and willow tails. Ended our 3 man limit at about 10am. Biggest was 22Ē
