    Age on this 9pt

I’m thinking 3.5 on this guy, looks like maybe 4.5 in person. Couple of trail camera and cell phone pictures at 200-300 yards.

He gets a pass from me, hoping he keeps his head in the protein feeder and stays always from the neighbors.

He’s out eating corn now with some younger deer. Pretty positive he’s 3.5.

Everything about that deer screams mature, and a dang terrible one at that.

Looks like a 4 year old management buck if you manage

I am seeing 4.5 yo. If he were on my place he would be culled.

Appears to be a good management buck to take out by those pics.

It’s always interesting to see the different perspectives.

Had several young bucks out this afternoon.

Nub, 1.5yr old spike, 2.5 yr old 7pt and this 9pt.

He certainly had a bigger body than the 7pt making me lean to 3.5. Not much of a sagging back or any belly, to me saying he’s not 4.5.

These post rut deer always seem to give me trouble. He could very well be 4.5 that lost some weight during the rut and needs to go.

They’re still chasing does a bit these past few days after a brief slow down a week ago.

From those pics, I think he is at least 4. Possibly older.

I’d guess 4.5. I remember hearing “if they look like a racehorse they’re not over 5.5” and that’s really helped me when it comes to aging bucks. His back doesn’t seem to sway down, his neck is defined and doesn’t seem to mesh with his brisket, etc. At the end of the day... who knows! Always tough aging very old deer.

He’s not 3.5. I am confident in saying that. Now, whether he is a 4.5 or run down 5.5 yr old is debatable. But it doesn’t matter. A 4.5 or 5.5 yr old 105” 8pt needs to be shot if you are trying to manage your herd for larger genetics. Shoot without hesitation him is my recommendation.
