Most of the Houston republicans are only republicans for the votes.

The ones with a public platform seem to have a bad track record in regards to this.

I read some of the comments here but not all.The reason everyone goes to the gun is the problem is because it is some much easier then blaming a person or something that caused a person to commit an evil act. People in this country have become lazy and always look for the easy way out! I own numerous guns and numerous ar's. None of them have ever gotten up and shot themselves! The gun is not the problem! But it is so easy to blame because it can't be a person or society problem. If you think for one minute the democratic party isn't playing this issue for control your head is in the sand. Why do you think the founding fathers put the second amendment in there? It was because an unarmed people are easily controlled! People say ban 30 round mags and my response is so you are ok with only 10 people killed at a time just not 30.

Zinke' the last interior secretary was truly a flop. As a former SEAL , I had expected more self control and discipline from him. I just knew he was gonna make public lands what Roosevelt had envisioned. The DC allure is too much for them I guess.[emoji32]

I am not blind or deaf. I just don’t buy into the generalizations and characterizations portrayed as fact by both sides of politically charged issues. Too often they are misleading if not dishonest.

Is it true that Dems want to take our guns away if only a minority actually support. Is it true that Biden wants to confiscate our guns if he only wants to eliminate AR’s because he ignorantly thinks it will prevent mass shootings?

I hope not because by that same logic, our side is bad too. We’re racist. So is Trump. We support school shootings and want crazy people to keep their guns and buy more. We could go on and on with examples on both sides.

Same goes for references to “they”, “them”, the government, etc.,. as though there is monolithic body or group coming after guns, advocating white supremacy, etc. If they are a threat, surely someone can identify them.

The reason you and I disagree here really just boils down to what we each assume to be true and valid or not.

I agree overturning the second amendment wouldn’t happen over night. It’s incrementally chipped away. Which makes an even stronger case to oppose any new gun laws, which the NRA, Dan Crenshaw and Donald Trump are all for. People always like to think the government is going to protect them but the truth is 99% of the time they won’t. If you give in to red flag laws you are essentially letting the government manufacture your consent from here out as to whether or not YOU should or should not have a gun. As if you, a law abiding citizen, should or should not be allowed to make your own decisions. The amount of grown men who think the government can make a better decision for them than they can, is astounding and a large part of the problem.

You're pretty much tbh certified as a wackadoodle on most things.

I still remember you making a much more inflammatory insult. I referenced it in a follow on post to which you claimed you said no such thing. Then you doubled down on it in another post referencing me specifically - something like look what this whacko made up because what I referenced was no where to be found. I was actually about to apologize.

Then I remembered the e-mail notifications from subscribed threads. There it was - your comment. It must have been deleted by moderator and you took advantage of it. You can deny again, but I know with absolute certainty you lied and you can probably guess where I think you can put your latest insult.

That said, I'm signing off of this thread and this entire section of TBH.com for good. I usually enjoy different points of view but more often than not it is just negative noise and insults. When I find myself falling into the same pit with the likes of systemnt, it's time to walk away. Congrats systemnt, you can claim I lied, you won or both without challenge. But I know. Cheers.

The Ku Klux Klan, Ronald Reagan, and, for most of its history, the NRA all worked to control guns. The Founding Fathers? They required gun ownership—and regulated it.

Here's an interesting article on US history of guns and gun control. Pretty interesting if you have a 5-10 minutes. Lots of things I wasn't aware of.

Another thing for people to think about is the use of common sense where it doesn't exist.

The last AWB list was formed by idiots going through magazines and picking out things they thought looked scary.

Do you really trust people that clueless to write a bill that is "common sense"?
