I get after it all happens, everyone wants to say they would’ve been a hero, but if you aren’t truly trained in combat, you shouldn’t whip out your pocket sized 9mm and run AT a guy with an AK.

Let's say we were both at the walmart in EP...you engage with the shooter as I'm farther back & round the isle and see you emptying your gun but cannot see what you are shooting at & I suspect you are the active shooter.

This scenario is much more creepy than engaging the actual perp...he was the only one shooting until you did & I whack the good guy & my life is now ruined, you dead or wounded. I would hate to be LE and know that LTC owners were now encouraged to stop mass shootings if they hear gun fire.

I think we get each other...I'm perfectly fine with a civilian LTC being abe to stop a threat if he's in the position of verifying the perp. I will never be OK with LTC holders all running to the sound of gunfire as it's recipe for disaster.

I definitely understand where you're coming from. We're on the same page.

May I ask if you got the right guy in the scenario you played out? I hope you stepped over my dead body and forgot about that mistake. I'd take that over 30+ other people gettin shot if you killed me and called it quits.

Well, that's very noble of you amigo but it's a scenario I would rather not consider further.

I've only had one incident thinking I might have to draw & had my CHL/LTC since it became available in Texas...I was in a very crowded HEB late one afternoon in a hurry to get to lease & bumped a thug with my cart by accident and he became unglued. It's a long story but he was one bad hombre with tear drop tattoos & wasn't going to let the situation go. His lady was with him & she started yelling at him about going back to jail. When he faced her I backed away leaving my cart & got the hell out of there. Could hear them yelling all the way out the store.

I was shaken up & went straight to the lease. It wasn't having to defend myself, it was the thought of hitting a bystander due to the crowds & the entire aftermath that comes with pulling your gun. They said the Walmart was at capacity with thousands of people. Bullets only know one direction. Pretty creepy & pray nothing ever crosses my path again.

I have a huge problem with a far left liberal anti gun democrat making up numbers to exploit a tragedy.

If she said "40-50 lives", I would not have had a problem with THAT statement because that is a plausible assumption.

Funny, she also says there should be NO limits on abortion. In other words, you can kill your baby right up until it would be naturally born.

Too bad that mayor wasn't down there in the bar district.

Well...this is just getting weird. Kinda hard to pin-point these mass shooters. So much for the narrative the left has been pushing all day that it's white supremacists being encouraged by trump. I guess this one will be called nothing but an anomaly by the media. Surely leftist socialist tendencies have nothing to with all the other mass shooting which belong to orange man. Gonna be a long news week!!

Ohio gunman described himself as pro-Satan 'leftist' who supported Elizabeth Warren

The Ohio gunman described himself on social media as a pro-Satan “leftist” who wanted Joe Biden’s generation to die off, hated President Trump and law enforcement, and hoped to vote for Sen. Elizabeth Warren for president.

The level of conspiracy ideation in this thread puts Alex Jones to shame. It's beyond embarrassing.

"Look! Brietbart is saying that the Democrats are still passionately vocal about gun control like they have been for decades! Clearly the shooting has to be a conspiracy orchestrated by the left-wing, deep-state globlalists and George Soros! It's so obvious! Don't you see it! 15 months before the election is the perfect timing for them to pull this off, especially since Americans have a news attention span of maybe a week! And pretending the guy shot his own sister....that's really sneaky....what will the evil liberal puppet masters think up next!"

The worst part about such ideological lunacy is that I'm sure impressionable children are exposed to it.

The resident political extremists should read the below summary to self-diagnose. Psychologists have you guys pretty well figured out....

                    General Discussion

The present studies sought to test the hypothesis that the political extremes—at both the left and the right—are most susceptible to conspiracy beliefs. Results obtained in four studies support this hypothesis by revealing a quadratic association between political ideology and conspiracy beliefs. These findings were mediated by participants’ belief in simple solutions to societal problems. These results suggest that political extremists’ susceptibility to conspiracy beliefs is attributable to a highly structured thinking style that is aimed at making sense of societal events.

The key contribution of the present research is twofold. First, the increased susceptibility to conspiratorial ideas among the political extremes is a relation that has previously been speculated about but that has not been adequately tested. Second, the studies presented here add to the more general observation that the extreme left and the extreme right, despite their differing ideologies, share an underlying psychology to some extent. Due to a crippled epistemology, both extremes might adhere to their belief system in a rigid fashion, leading them to perceive their political ideas as the simple and only solution to societal problems—a style of sense making that also induces them to perceive evil conspiracies as causal explanations for various societal events.

It is likely that the left and the right differ in the type of conspiracy theories that they endorse. One might speculate that the extreme ‘‘left’’ particularly perceives conspiracies about issues concerning—for instance—capitalism (e.g.,multinationals), and that the extreme ‘‘right’’ particularly perceives conspiracies about topics such as science (e.g.,evolution and climate change) or immigration. Research confirms that specific ideologies may drive specific conspiracy theories. More important for the present purposes, however, is theobservation that both extremes share a general proneness to conspiracy beliefs about societal events.

The present research focused on socio-cognitive processes (i.e., sense-making strategies) to explain the relation between political ideology and conspiracy beliefs. It is possible, however, that other processes contribute to this relation as well. For instance, extremists tend to display more ingroup-favoritism than moderates. Correspondingly, there is a social dimension to conspiracy beliefs, as people endorse conspiracy theories to make sense of threats to a group that they connect their identity to. Future research can thus examine additional mediators or moderators of the quadratic relation between political ideology and conspiracy beliefs.

Correlation is not causation; and based on the present findings, we can only speculate about the causality of the effects described here. We suspect that the relation between political extremism and conspiracy beliefs is bidirectional and self-reinforcing. Radicalization toward more extreme views may instigate a crippled epistemology that facilitates the sense-making processes associated with conspiracy beliefs. At the same time, belief in conspiracy theories assumes deception and injustice, and perceived injustice has been argued to be a major precursor of extremism. More relevant for the present purposes, however, is the observation that political extremism and conspiracy beliefs are strongly associated and that this is attributable to a style of sense making that provides a straightforward explanatory framework for the events and problems that our society faces. It is concluded that extreme political ideologies predict increased susceptibility to conspiracy theories.

The resident extremists can't lose. No matter the who/what/where/why/how, its all a vast left-wing conspiracy to come after our guns! Don't you see? It's so obvious!

Dude let it go...the story isn't going to be conspiracy driven on MSM. Alternative internet media is never going to drive the narrative or influence voters as those who follow are already on their train taking them down the tracks they support.

Just watch how El Paso will dominate over the Ohio shooting now...If you cannot tie the shooter to orange man, then it's not a story worthy for the masses.

                          Mass shooting

I did not read every post on this thread.......my thought is there is not enough of a deterrence for these crimes or for that matter most crimes out there. Plenty wrong with our legal system.
