If planning to go to Vegas think twice

Wife and I have been going to Vegas for 30 plus years. So to celebrate our 44th anniversary we planned a 4 day trip.

All I can tell is this ...... do not do it. The place is a total mess.

The hotels are 100% booked to capacity but they do not have the staff in place to handle a full house. Restaurants are short handed so you cannot get into a place even to eat breakfast unless you have a reservation. Lines are out the door to get a cup of coffee. The pools at the hotels are limiting the number of people who can enter so you may be booked in a world class hotel paying world class dollars but you or your family cannot get to the pool. There were families waiting at the pool entrance for several hours in hopes they could just get into the pool - ridiculous for sure

and as a side note - I can afford nice trips. However I do not appreciate getting ripped off. Prices in Vegas are silly. Ten bucks for one Corona - breakfast will run you $50-60 for you and your wife - no thank you. And if you were wondering - they are mask Nazis - when at a bar or restaurant you have to leave your mask on, lower it to take a drink or bite and then put it back on. If you don't then the waiters or managers come let you know.

So my guess it that it only gets worse during the summer months as pent up demand increases. What a waste of money for our trip -

Dang man that is not good.

I was reading recently where they are going to require the passport for staying at any of the hotels.

I was wondering about this. We actually were thinking of taking the grandkids to Disney World this summer but I wonder if Orlando is in the same boat? I dang sure don’t want to spend good money and have grandchildren sitting around with nothing to do or eat.

I was just in Vegas 2 weeks ago and I didn't feel it was totally horrible. Sure you had to wear a mask everywhere, but I saw plenty of folks walking on the gaming floors with no masks smoking their legal blunts.

All of the restaurants we went to would take your "reservation" on the spot and seat you accordingly. None of them had a menu they could hand you, it was all q code scanning.

Never tried to go to a pool, so I cant speak to that. But I cam say the prices are.like an amusement park.

This is what we've heard from a buddy that is there all the time. He's the type of guy that never has to wait in line and he still says it's a crap shoot.

We just booked a family trip to Cancun and a lot of reviews for resorts were complaining about a lack of food options. I told the wife if we get over there and I can't eat we're coming back home The one we booked seems to have everything in order though.

every reservation "on the spot" was a good hour plus wait - mask on the street or gaming areas was not enforced - it was everywhere else. All the cab drivers told us that the people just started showing up in the last two weeks so maybe you had a better experience - for me? No way - waited 20 minutes in line at our elevator on the 18th floor in order to get down to the casino - again ... trust me it is a mess

Ouch. You're not the first I've heard this from. Thanks for the heads up... as it seems consistent.

I went in September, and it completely sucked. They are mask nazi’s and not the type of crowds you want to be around. I couldn’t wait to leave and will not be back for a long time.

Happy Anniversary to you and your wife! 44 years is not common for most in America. I am sure being together you were able to still enjoy the reason for the trip........."make lemonade out of lemons", type of deal! Congrats on a wonderful accomplishment!!!

Your comment is interesting. I did not mention it in my OP but I agree totally - the make up of the crowds that were there are not folks you want to be around - pretty rough for sure. I am afraid my wife and I will never go back - it was that bad

Sounds like Port Aransas and even shut down fishing in the Gulf.

Its not gonna take a Covid shot, gonna take buckshot.

I agree with the crowds thing. I have never seen so many street urchins wandering around the gaming floors looking like they might try to rob you.

We were there right as march madness was kicking off and it went from not too crowded to pretty packed seemingly overnight.

We never had to wait at an elevator especially in the casino, but we did have to mill about smartly in the line for the high roller even with the no waiting tickets.

I totally agree that this version of Vegas is a shell of what Vegas used to be and I also will probably never go back. I can lose more than enough money within an hour of my house.

Was there this past weekend at Mandalay Bay for Volleyball national qualifier. That place was packed. People and players every where. 20 min wait for elevator was normal. Many of the restaurants were closed or they closed very early, like 7pm. We were able to make reservations for the team but we booked at least a day in advance. Yes, the prices are stupid high, like almost $50 per person for burger, fries & soda.

We didn't run into any mask police, not once in the 5 days there did we have an issue. Wear them in public places, take them off when seated to eat or when in the bar. My guess is that different properties have different rules.

I do not gamble, none what so ever so I don't see the draw to go to Vegas. I waste enough money on hunting I don't need to waste more on blackjack and such. Just seem silly to charge $20 for a bottle of water and these high prices for food. I always thought their gig was to get you to blow $$$ on the gaming floor, not at restaurants.
