Dang sure are, I usually find them right before daylight. I’ve never flushed one that was more than 10 feet from me. I’ll have a heart attack one day from those grouse.
Got behind a herd coming out of the alfalfa this morning. We dogged them up to their bedding area. The herd bull was a 7x6 with a huge body, there was a satellite bull trailing them that was probably 340”. Lots of bugles this morning but tonight is silent.
No dice this morning, I don’t think the elk came down to the fields last night. We are going in to the bedding area to try and make something happen this afternoon. I set up on a trail that looked like a highway leading out of the field this morning. Never heard a sound.
