The gator is not dumb, he knows where to hunt. Maybe he ate some hogs, smelt and tasted corn while eating the hogs, figured out hogs like corn, then found corn and waited for a hog. That or just tracked the smell of the hogs to the corn. He obviously figured out that was the place to hunt.

Looks like that gator had a bad brawl before and lost 1/2 his lower jaw.
