Scope recommendation...

I know I’ll get 48 different opinions but I haven’t bought anything in years other than a Nikon Prostaff for my .17 WSM and a Nikon Prostaff BDC for my CVA .50 front end loader...

Anyway I just bought a new Savage 110 high country 7mm-08, true timber strata camo stock and coyote brown PVD coated action and barrel.

Bought to hunt whitetail with it and no shot over 350 yards in east Tx. Low light is a must. Either hydro drip it to match the camo or coat it the brown color.

So far I’ve considered a Nikon Monarch 5 (4-20 50mm or 5-25 50mm) camo dipped

Athlon Eres ETR 4.5-30 56mm brown coated

Or ????

$1200 budget

For 1200 the only choice there is IMO is a leupold vx5hd I would get the 3-15x44

Can’t go wrong with the upper level leupold,vortex, athlon I think it comes down to preference and what you want in a scope?

350 yard shots you definitely do need 1000$ glass imo I’ve killed tons at the range using a vortex viper PA 450-500$ scope.

Are you going to be doping or sightin at 200 and holding over? You might want exposed turrets if your going to dope your shots.

Just FYI those big scopes get heavy fast.

This is a great scope and all you need for shots inside 350
Leaves some extra cash for ammo which you will need!

I see athlon btr gen 2 2.5-15 on sale for around 550. Ffp. Excellent scope. I have it. Also have meopta optika 6 that I like as well

For his budget of $1200 I’d step up to a Z5 and be happy

Leupold VX 3i 4.5-14 40mm with CDS dial. For what you stated as your intended purpose, you don't need anything else beyond that.

Swaro Z3 or Z5
Zeiss V4

I really like the CDS feature on my Leupold VX6
