    DIY Office Desks

My wife came to me a couple weeks ago with a request to build her a couple desks, one standard height for her to sit at and one standing desk that would accommodate two filing cabinets underneath it. She drew out the plans and I found multiple old solid wood doors at an estate sale to use for the tops.

We used 1x4 pine to trim the tops and recessed the top 1/4” to accept a glass top. Used 1 1/4” square tubing for the frames and expanded metal for the shelves.

The glass place called Saturday and said they had to send the tops back to whoever polished them because they looked bad so I will update the thread with the finished product once we get them in her office.

We got everything set up, happy with how they turned out. She is the food and nutrition director for Llano ISD so I got her some decorations from Hobby Lobby after work one day to make it feel a little homier. She’s happy so it was a successful project.
