Sharon and I got married. She had just graduated from high school and had turned 18 earlier in July. I was 19 and had just completed my freshman year in college. We had gone together in high school and I worked part-time and she had gotten a full-time job. We promised my parents that I would continue college. From that time on, we made our own living, not accepting any help from our parents. I think lots of folks figured we wouldn't make it and there were times we thought so, too.

But we held on. I graduated from Baylor in 1965 and got a real job. She continued to work and our son was born in June 1968. My job involved transfers and we went to Dallas for 6 months and then to Corpus Christi. Our daughter was born there in August 1971. My job had more transfers and from 1967 to 1985, we owned 6 homes in different cities, all in Texas.

We now have our two children and four grand children (1 girl and 3 boys) and 2 great-grandchildren. Today, we have been married 60 years. She is 78 and I will be 80 in October. We are in fairly good health considering our ages.

I think we will both agree that if we had it to do over again, we would.

Sounds like the perfect illustration of "...and the two shall become one flesh." May God continue to bless you and your sweet bride an' all them kids and grandkids!!
