    Best buck to date

I was fortunate enough to take down my biggest buck to date on Thursday evening. We spent Christmas in San Antonio and the day after we were loaded up and headed to Ozona Texas to one of my dads friends lease, he invited me out to hopefully shoot my biggest deer to date. We got in at night so I couldn’t really tell what the country was like, first morning was such a cool hunt, we were down in the bottoms and the sun started rising and I could see Hill sides surrounding me in the bow stand. Saw some young Deer and an old chocolate horned 10, didn’t shoot because it was only the first hunt. We sat a different stand that evening and saw a cull 8 point and smaller bucks, didn’t shoot anything. Next morning we sat in a box stand with my grandpas rifle in hand, saw tons of deer, lots of young bucks, a real tall mature 8 and a mature ten point with a slicked back g2, I got the green light to shoot the 10 but I didn’t pull the trigger because the fog was so thick. Went back that evening and saw the same Deer from the morning and a real tall 9 point and a 1.5 year old monster 10, just when I think it wasn’t going to happen we spot him coming in from over 250 yards away. Heart started pumping and nerves were twitching so I gave him time so I can calm down, big mistake, it only made my nerves worse. Finally he was clear of the feeder and no Deer we’re behind him, I pulled the trigger and he trotted 20 or so yards as if nothing happened, racked another shell and then I saw him hunch up, went maybe 60 more yards and bedded down, watched his tines tip over and he was mine!!! I really enjoyed this hunt and the country which we were hunting, its way different than hunting senderos in South Texas. Here’s some pics from the hunt and of course my buck pictures. Attaboy, nice buck.

Hunting out this way is addictive. I think it's the scenery and sunrises/sunsets.

That's great man. Congratulations! Those wide open spaces are pretty but I'm still partial to my pine trees and shade.
                        Again, nice looking buck.
