Looked for a month, never could find it. Finally found some Mobil Diesel and went with it. I'll stock up next time I find it.

Maybe Beto can send us some unicorn farts until then.

More proof we'd all be better off driving electrics .

I usually run Valvoline Premium Blue but it's also apparently hard to find now so I ended up with Mobil full synthetic found at the local Wal Mart but its about all they had

I got on Fords website the other day just messing around to see how much the all electric F150 is. The extended range F150 XLT model which is the middle of the road trim package (which I imagine is still pretty dang nice) starts at $72k!

yes it has. I like to have never found some Rotella Diesel 10W-30 for my tractor. A guy in an Auto Zone checked around and found two 1-gallon jugs for me and had it shipped over for no charge to do it. Otherwise, all the TSC stores have NONE !

Advanced Auto Parts in Willis has cases of Rotella T6 in both 5W-40 and 15W-40. Little pricy at $37.99 a gallon, but they have it and DEF in stock right now.

I have drums and pails of T-4 15w-40 and T-6 5w-40.
I can get anything you need if it’s available . Unfortunately it’s hard to package and ship just a jug or two of oil , but if interested I’m bulk by all means give me a call.

I've been using Rotella T6 for @165K miles and approaching an oil change I couldn't find any T6.

I do my own PM, but have been using a local shop for @1 year for what I can't do on the truck. A few months ago, they recommended Schaeffer oil, 15w-40 syn to be exact. It's not cheap- but it is available locally, and on Amazon. I changed it yesterday, hopefully all goes well.

That is crazy. Buy for $14 at Home Depot and try to sell for $65. It still brings me limited joy to recall those hand sanitizer resellers getting stuck with garages full of the stuff.

Ford has been using extremely accurate measuring equipment on some of their engines since the early days of the mod motors. We took a tour of the AER plant up on Carrollton. They have the equipment to machine parts to some very tight tolerances and the tools to measure to some extremely small numbers. With tight tolerances it is easier to build high oil pressure. Which you need it higher hp engines. Probably very helpful in high hp diesel engines, that use oil pressure to fire the injectors.

While GM builds many of their engines down in Mexico, hardly any of the holes come out round, much less have tight tolerance. I know of machine shot that gets brand new GM crate engines tears them down and goes through the whole engine. They say the big ends of the rods are not round, the cylinders are not round, then the rod and main journals are not perfectly round either. They have to go back and true up just about everything in those engines. I would assume the Duramax diesels are still made by Isuzu, be a lot better than Mexican made.

All of the oil is accounted for by large clients! No small batches making it to retailers

I was surprised to see my Royal Purple Duralec Super at Oreilly. I normally order from Amazon in a 3 gallon case but went ahead and grabbed the 3 they had. It was 35 a gallonÖnot too bad. This is all Iíve run in the Cummins.

I bought some more gallon jugs of T5 15w-40 last week at Home Depot in Rosenberg for around $14 per gallon. I’m guessing they have overlooked raising the price.

Looks like the shortage is starting to ease up some. WalMart has it online (For $57/Gallon ), but Blaines Farm and Fleet has it for $32/gallon, along with a few others.

I still don't see it on Amazon. But maybe the drought is easing up?

Semi related, I waited 6 plus months for an oil filter for my car. Finally found a shop that had them, not marked up 200%, and ordered two. The shop only shipped USPS. So 50/50 chance it even shows up. Well guess who put my package in the wrong mailbox?

Last time I ordered something USPS, exact same issue.

I had to use Mobil 1 delvac this time. Supposedly they were only packing Rotella in 55 gal drums through the pandemic to keep the big boy shops afloat with supply. I have heard that they are gonna start back the supply for the everyday guys like us soon.

Just curious , what`s the difference in T-5 and T-6 ? Also between 5-40 and 15-40 ? Which weight would be best in these hot Texas months ?

T5 is synthetic blend vs T6 is full synthetic. I've been running 15w40 T6 in mine for over 200k in North Texas and haven't had any issues. I don't do much heavy towing tho.

5 is a blend while 6 is full synthetic which means little to me.

The weights are more critical, older Diesel engines used 15-40 but some newer ones (powerstroke) require the 5-40 dues to clearances in engine components. and the wrong oil will void your warranty

I have a 6.7 and manual says to use 15-40 in hot areas.
