What do you guys like for triggers on your hunting ARs? I have a Daniel Defense Mk12 that shoots fantastic, but I just can't get used to the 2 stage trigger in the field. It has the SSA-E trigger in it currently. Does anybody make a nice single stage that dosen't have a ton of creep?

I started off using a Black Rain Ordinance 3.5 lb trigger. It has a curved bow. I used it for 2 or 3 years.
I always wanted a flat bow trigger. So when I found a deal on a CMC 2 stage with a flat bow I bought it. Unfortunately it doesn't work in my AR10. I can't pull the trigger far enough to get it fire. The trigger guard is flat and part of the lower the trigger gets stopped by the trigger guard ![]() So I bought another CMC Trigger. Which I'm currently using. It is a 2.5 lb single stage flat bow. I really really like it. I have to pay attention though. It's a lot different from the Black Rain Ordinance one. |

I agree with the CMC recommendations. Fantastic trigger at 2.5 and made in Texas!

I like the Larue 2 stage for hunting. Very distinct wall at the end of the first stage and then a clean break.
ETA: I read the rest of the OP. CMC for a single stage |

Thanks for all the replies! Looks like CMC has a great reputation. Leaning hard towards the CMC flat 2.5 at this point.

I have Timney's in all my AR's either skeletonized or solid curved bow 2.5# and they seem to be exactly the same across them all... They include multiple caliber AR15's, AR 10's and even a little AR15-22lr... Plus, it takes about 15 minutes to make the change out.

You can run a really light 2 stage. Ease through the first stage and break the second when needed. If you run a real light single stage you will doubke tap really easy. I used to hate them too. I love them now.

I do worry about doubles. My beef with the 2 stagexI have is the creep on the 2nd stage before it breaks. If I could get 2 stage with a cleaner break I'd be ok with that.

Geiselle and trigger tech diamond is all I have that are 2 stage. Multiple models of geiselle. Need to run the TT more but it’s super crisp and extremely light. 1.5 lbs for BOTH stages combined. Wasn’t gonna say it but I’ll add my input. I don’t like CMC. Not much more money gets you a geiselle. |

Palmetto State Armory Single Stage 2.5 lb, and 3.5 lb triggers. Both are leaps and bounds better than CMC which I also own. These can be bough on sale regularly at around $86 TYD.

Closest to bolt gun trigger to me would be the Timney... Same for instance as a drop in replacement for a Remy 700 or AR15... just different mounts. Action inside them is identical. That's why I went with Timney, from experience with bolt guns... they give me the same "feel" in my AR's...

This is spot on. I have both Timney and CMC set around 2.5 and have had people double tap while shooting them. I've never been a 2 stage fan but recently installed two Trigger Tech Diamonds on some DD5v4's (ar10) and you really don't notice the first light pull if set up correctly. I definitely would recommend considering this for a semi-auto.

Matt, you should feel the triggers on my PCP guns... 8-9 oz. MAX! Talk about nice! But you don't walk around with them cocked either and they don't have safties at all...

![]() That’s a great trigger. It’s interesting to me how LaRue is not in the National conversation about top tier ARs anymore. I’m guessing they made their point and are filling contracts and not participating in the rat race. Best AR gear/parts money can buy. Their build kits are still the best deal going. |

CMC has a bunch of triggers, one of them I got to try years ago, was a very nice. But I have not found someone who has displays set up with all of the many variations of CMC triggers, so I have no idea which one it is.
I bought two Geisselematch triggers for two of my rifles. They are adjustable. You can adjust the creep of the first stage, then the lbs. of pull for both the first stage and second stage, then the over travel. I have mine adjusted to the point, it's hard to tell they are two stage triggers. I have another gun, I bought a Hyperfire trigger for my 458 SOCOM. I got it on sale, wanted a cheap trigger for my 458, since I built it out of spare parts and a cheap barrel. I have been pretty happy with the Hyperfire trigger, not sure which version I got, I think it's the Reflex. |
