Default If you could only have ONE gun

What would it be? Not one pistol, rifle, and shotgun but one gun period. What caliber? The question has probably been asked a million times before but I’m bored working security tonight so enlighten me.

Doesn’t matter if it’s for the apocalypse, the government limiting to just one, or your budget.

My 5.56. Lightweight, versatile, quick shooting with a 30 round mag.

End of the world: I can hunt deer and hogs just fine. Small enough to not ruin small game if I was after squirrels or rabbits, etc. Big enough for personal defense.

For me, if we are talking functionality. I would have to say an AR-15 in 6.5 Grendel. That is assuming I would never have a problem finding ammunition and I never had to worry about the government taking it away. The caliber works on pretty much everything. Good for personal protection and filling a freezer if need be.

I have hunted from Mexico to the arctic circle, one gun Winchester M70 westerner .300 WM
Killed every thing from badgers to elk and caribou and everything in between
Shooting federal classic 180 gr.

She is kinda crusty looking, but very trust worthy

Savage Model 24 12 ga/.223 O/U...
Or more readily available Remy 870 12 gauge with a set of chokes... Ain't nothin' in North America that gun won't handle... Biggest/baddest bear in Kodiak, all the guides carry this gun with slugs... Squirrels, rabbits, all birds, Deer/hogs, and bad guys or gubment invaders... The 12 gauge shotgun is the real gun that won the West... but it's not as glamorous as the Colt Peacemaker... In reality, the Colt Peacemaker was just used to fight your way to your double barrel or in later years the Winchester '97...

The rifle that’s by my side just about every day. A suppressed 17” 556 topped with a NF NX8 1-8. Quick enough to do work at close range, but I can rock out out distance just fine as well. Stretched the rifle to 940 with different optic, but have made several p dog kills from 600-635 with the NX8 on top.

Any shotgun, slugs, buckshot, and lots of different bird shot.
Rifle would be my 219 Z, can load it down to a 40 gr. at 2,000fps, up to a 63 gr. at 3,200 fps.
