    Saltwater spinning reel

Needs some input on buying a spinning reel for saltwater to use for trout and reds using plugs and or popping corks. Don’t wanna spend a bunch on one,I have curados,Calcuttas, ambassaduers , and don’t have a spinning setup

I have a couple of Penn Fierce II 3000 reels. They’re cheap and they seem to hold up great in saltwater. Both of them are 4+ years old and have seen a ton of use.

I really like the Penn spinning reels for saltwater. I have the Fierce, Battle II and Conflict models. I think the Battle is the best all-round bang for your buck. If I were you, I'd buy the Battle II 2500 on Amazon for $72. Great price for that reel.

I’m a fan of the penn battle 3000. Load it up with 30lb braid and you’re good to go!

Shimano or Penn in 2500. I kinda fish them throw away. If I get 3 seasons I'm lucky. Fish them until they don't feel good and throw away and replace.

Another vote for Penn. I still use the old Penn 430’s for saltwater. They are metal body, easy to clean, and last forever.

The BG 4000 series is slightly larger than a Shimano Stradic C5000.

I use Penn Battle II 2500s and Daiwa BG 2500s. Great little spinning reels. They will handle just about anything in the bay.

I have used the Penn Fierce 2500s too, also a solid reel for a little less money than the Fierce.

                              They hold up well.
