Oh, and full disclosure - the spotted dog in the pics is the same as in my avatar - her name is Cricket. She's an Aussie. She does a good job too, but I gave credit to Ace, Tracey's dog! He's got a heck of a nose and he's a Blue Lacy. Those pigs were easily 1/3 - 1/2 mile away

Unfortunately, at 10 years of age, Ace is pretty crippled with arthritis and can scarcely trot 200 feet. We had to leave him at the house for the recovery. Cowboy scented the route the pigs ran and he followed his nose to where the second one was, then started baying her. I called him back, not realizing what was going on, but soon decided to follow him and quickly discovered this big sow.

Her injuries were astounding. Like a crack head - full of lead and still full of fight. Shattered femur on the back leg, stomach/ intestines, just above the neck and the shot that finally ended it was in the bottom of the neck, slicing both arteries. She was so fat even her front leg shanks jiggled.

I really need to practice more with my iron sights on my 30-30.

It was a lot of fun and I'm so glad Pistol was there to experience it. I usually can see them about every other weekend following the same path.
