Default TBH poll - What would you do?

Here's the situation.
I have this boar coming in to one feeder that is furthest away from house, traffic etc. It's in the far corner of my property. It, by far, has the most pictures of bucks right now. But this boar seems to keep the deer back for most of the morning.

Go hunt and shoot this boar and risk running the bucks off or leave everything alone?

The only reason this is a question is because I have 7 other feeders running and they don't have that much buck activity yet.

Being the feeder is in the far corner of the property I'm just a tad worried those new bucks will head back onto the other property versus moving further into mine.

But I was leaning towards shooting it... Will either hunt it or a bigger one in the center of property.

Go kill him. If the bucks leave that feeder (I doubt they will), they'll likely show up at your others.

Shoot it. Make a long range shot, and then go pick it up in the middle of the day when the bucks are not at the feeder. Should not be a problem.

Definitely kill it.

I had a few sows with several shoats showing up at my wife’s feeder a while back, even had pics of the bucks and does being spooked only to have pig pictures within a couple of minutes.

Killed one sow, the deer were back less than 24 hours after I took the shot.

Kill it. If the bucks avoid the feeder it will only be temporary. They have 2 months to get back in a pattern at that feeder.

They will be glad he is gone too!

I’m in the “kill it” crowd. I watched a big sow chase the deer from my feeder, shot her with a rifle from 200 yards while the deer were standing less than 50 yards away. She ran about 50 yards opposite the deer and they were eating corn again in less than 5 minutes.

I had a larger boar that was the only pig visiting one feeder. After season I brought a kid in to kill it. Within days a sounder moved in. All deer season he was the man and keeping other pigs away, per the cameras. Though, bucks did eat with him at the feeder.

RR1, you will always have pigs. This guy is keeping other hogs away as well. If you kill this one, others will follow, maybe lots more. He ain't bothering the bucks. Let him go in my opinion.

1 dead hog= 5 happy buck deer. If the deer aren’t at the feeder they won’t give a flippin hands down good grief RIP dam. They will love you even more. Shoot straight and shoot often if you want to the deer there consistently.

Depends on your area and deer. Where we hunt, a hog is going to scare off the deer way worse than a gunshot. Deer are used to gunfire (East Texas), doesn’t bother them at all. I always fuss at my guys when they say all they had come in was hogs, and they don’t see any deer. They let the hogs pass for fear of scaring deer away. I’ve shot a deer and had others not even stop eating at the report.

I would reason with the Boar. Explain that you identify as a hunter and that it is hard for you to do that if he scares away the beautiful bucks. I'm sure he will care about how he is affecting your life and feelings and find another place to eat his corn.

Bring that thermal out!
No LDP this evening. It was either a very off night or they knew I was there. Only had two tiny bucks. My wife sat in another box blind and only saw two deer also which is really odd for that blind.

I may try again Monday morning. He's more regular in the mornings.

excellent opportunity to practice long range shooting for the ear.
Hopefully a suppressor just in case you miss
Bucks may shag for a short while, double the corn for a short while to icing the cake

This is all overly cautious - you could probably walk out with a 44 and blast him and everything would fine after a week or two back to normal

Default TBH poll - What would you do?

This is one reason we feed from the truck around all the feeders. 9-10 the pigs will go to the feeder, the deer will go to the truck corn.

Weíve shot hundreds of pigs with deer in view, they rarely run off anymore.

NOTHING likes a dominant boar around. Kill him. But snap him in the head, and get him out of there. Donít shoot him in the *** and let him run off and die. Thermal is the best way, if you have one.
