I crack up at people that talk all this smack about not supporting anti 2A businesses or not going to establishments that don't allow open or concealed carry but they go to Mexico beach resorts for vacation.

No Cartel shootouts in the US. But how many school shootings and other mass shootings have there been? I'm willing to bet the number of murders year-to-date in the US exceeds the number in Mexico.

The Homicide total in 2017 for the US was 19,880

Looks like you are correct about Mexico as its total number of homicides was much lower at 43,160.....

Edits:
Looks like Mexico passed the US in 2009 with a 25% surge in murders from the year before and they haven't looked back since.

The US has been in the 17-20k range since the mid 90's.

Now compare total homicides in Nuevo Laredo to Laredo. Huge difference. When I go deer hunting in Texas I don't have to pass through Chicago or St. Louis to get there. My chances of dying are far greater in Nuevo Laredo than they are in Llano and San Saba.

And where do the majority of those occur?

In Gun free zones. Unarmed peasants are easy targets.

I'm not trying to ruffle feathers or be a smart***,but I'm genuinely curious. What is the allure of hunting in Mexico? Are the deer bigger? Better genetics? Or simply the thrill of going to a different country to hunt whitetail?

You can hunt South Texas class deer, while paying Hill Country prices.

This!! I have traveled all over Mexico and the USA
Only times I have been a crime victim or been terrified is in the USA and Northern Africa ( Morocco, Tunisia, Libia)
I definitely recommend not traveling around in strange places at night in Mexico. ( or the USA for that matter)

Murder rate in Mexico vs USA. Take into account that Mexico does not report cries at a high rate as well. Mexico has right at 37k people missing last year as well that are still not accounted for.

rate
mexico 29 per 100k

usa 5.3 per 100k

And there is nothing like hanging out on ranches in Ol Mex and watching the rodeos and shooting dove and quail. I am fortunate to have done it and hope one day things will change and I can take my kids.

Yep. Some simple math with Mexico theoretically having the same amount of people as the US and carrying over their murder rate would put them at 110,088 people yearly.

Theoretically passing the blood thirsty country of Brazil whos the current leader at 63,000

I get a little nervous traveling to our lease, once we are there that all goes away, we are in the middle of nowhere, really enjoy it. I was told the military has been around quite a bit and we should expect to see them, I guess that is a good thing unless they come driving up at prime time.

whatever...I've lived on the border all my life & worked over there for 15 years till I got run off. You sir, have no inclination into the drama the narco state change had on my life & I haven't crossed in over 5 years because of it. I got chased by 4 armed men leaving the Eaton facility south of the Pharr Bridge. Your opinion of what I think or anyone else regarding ANYTHING SOTB means absolutely zero to me. I am well more tuned in to what is happening in my backyard & got the consulate warning when it was issued way before this was even posted.

I want no part of mex till it gets fixed, but I don't need preaching by anyone here on anything mexico. Sticks in my craw. If you had indeed hunted mexico on a regular basis, then there would have been some part of your reply that would relate to what used to be heaven.
