Robert, how much extra would it be to have the action cerakote to match the barrel.

Looks like there's some confusion with the bolt body and the action body. The action body should be cerakoted to match the small portions of the CF barrels (on the tier 1) - but the bolt body is already dlc coated...see below in Robert's original post

Might have missed this but I don't see any one saying they ordered 300 Win Mag. Any reason for this?

Does anyone know if the Hellfire brake can be cerakoted to match the other metal on the rifle? I see the brake is available in raw stainless from Area 419

Add the optional brake and it's no big deal at all. I have shot my buddies Christensen Ridgeline 300wm, and I have the same in 28 Nosler which weighs less than 7 lb and the recoil is not bad at all. To me those long range hammers are what a carbon fiber build is all about. I mean if it's light it's not a great bench gun it's meant to be packed up and down mountains or across rugged deserts where your going to want a long range hammer. If I was doing tier 1 it would be a 300wm, 7 rem mag, 28 Nosler, etc.

Somebody also asked about cerakoting the G2 action earlier. Of course it can be done. But I would certainly weigh the benefits of doing it before making the decision. That entire action is completely DLC (or PVD if you prefer) coated. It was chosen because it is the pinnacle of finishes at this time. It offers cerakote like protection, but with much higher lubricity and only adds about .0002 thickness allowing us to achieve much more precise tolerances on the final product. It is a superior finish, which it why it was chosen. In the end, we'll do whatever you want us to do. Just want to make sure everyone has all the facts in order to make the best decision for themselves. |

Thanks for all the info! And giving everyone such a great deal! I don't own anything from you yet but plan on getting in on this! Pretty set on a 300wm in tier 1 but also would like to get something a little smaller for the girlfriend and range time for me. Thinking 7mm-08 but everyone talking 6.5prc has me torn. Tier 1 as well. Then deciding on colors... decisions decisions.

I've also ordered tier 1 in 300wm. 26" bbl. was planning on 28" but for the difference in velocity it wasn't worth the extra 2" since I will have an ultra 7 on the end. Animal on the other end won't notice the velocity difference. Should be enough for anything in North America at the distances I'm comfortable shooting

I don't mind a little longer pipe, especially for a magnum. Gives a little more room to burn the extra powder

My only reason for the 24 is for packing as it will be a hunting rifle. I hunt some pretty steep and deep stuff chasing elk and muleys. Figured it will be about 26 after the brake.

If you reload you might could use a little faster burning powder to make up the velocity difference.

I'm torn there as well lol. Was kinda thinking of changing it up and going 9 or 9.4 but the 10 is also a good option. I'm no expert though.. wish I was. Maybe someone on here is and will point me in the right direction.

I ordered the 300 WM in the Tier 2 with a brake. Maybe I’ll tegret the extra pound but felt like the heavier gun will help with recoil and I’ll just have to make sure I’m in good shape when hiking with it.

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger. I'm going Tier 1, 7mm-08, 20" barrel. Still undecided on Cerakote and stock color. Also still thinking about twist, I'm going to shoot either the 140 or 150 Nosler Partition.

Leaning towards 300WM but also considering 280AI. Any advantages or disadvantages of one over the other as a solid elk sized game round?

![]() I am going with the pattern from Picture 2 from post #141 that Stick1 posted. I'm just going to ask them to add sage green to the other two colors. Now I am trying to decide which barrel color. I am between midnight bronze or graphite black with the ratchet fluting. |

The reasons I choose the 280AI was because I wanted a shorter barrel and the extra powder probably would be burnt anyway, I didn't want to deal with belted case of the 300wm when reloading, the 280AI has less recoil and it still carries enough speed and energy to kill elk out to 600 yards which is further than I would shoot and elk anyways. |

I'm trying to get a 22" -8.4 twist on the 280AI but I can only get the 22" if 3 more people want a 22" 7mm barrel. If I can't get it then I will get a 24" with an 8.4 twist so I can shoot the 175 grain bullets for elk.

I'm no expert by any means, but the saum's 300, 7mm and 6.5 all use the same case. The amount of powder and velocities are very similar to the 280AI. The limiting factor in the 6.5 is using lighter weight bullets around 140g. Plus I don't like the short fat cases which limits you to one less round when using a bdl bottom plate.
