I think if you lay them on their back they will pop their neck to flip over

We just called them "clicker" bugs. Yes, they click when they flip themselves over. You often see them attached to another one having some romantic evenings.

Some look similar but I don’t think those are click beetles.

He doesn’t have any clickers. I think El Viejo was correct with the ironclad.
