Set up in a Xenek tent in LaSalle County. It's hot and muggy but I'm still excited to be hunting one of my all time favorite ranches. Today and tomorrows hunts are gifts I didn't expect to receive but I plan to.make the most of it.

Stay tuned...

It’s good to be back at the MMR this season for what is likely to be one last farewell tour.

Pop, my step dad, has been leasing the property from my aunt for the last several years. The property sold before last season, but Glenn was able to retain the lease for what was to be a final season last year.

Fortunately, Pop was able to negotiate another year with the landowner this season, and asked me to join the lease. There are a lot of fond memories from this place over the last 35+ years, and it played a huge role in the development of TBH! I’m excited to be back after about 10 years of not hunting here!

Here's a little footage from last week at the MMR. Y'all may recognize some of the landmarks. We'll try to capture a few more over the next couple of days.

This is a different family place, but was also sold last year. The other was “The Ranch” near Encinal.

Unlike that place, where my Dad had a strict “no guest” policy, the MMR hosted many TBH group hunts and quite a few site members.

I inadvertently deleted all pics on my card from the morning so I grabbed some around camp to dress up the thread. Kinda hot but still looking forward to the afternoon hunt. Name: 20201026155603_IMG_4772.jpg

Trail cams show a couple of spikes, a few big does and a possible shooter buck have been coming in this week. Oh, and plenty of hogs!

Quiet this evening. I got blanked.

We’re having dinner at the “new” LaSalle County Steakhouse this evening. Apparently Peppers has closed down (and Shayna left town.)

Looking forward to a good hunt in the morning.

Peppers closed down???? Sad. I used to eat there at least once per season long ago. Hunted a section of the Briscoe Ranch not far out of Cotulla when a Family member had a lease. The ribeye steaks were fantastic at Peppers!!
