Default Chili

My wife asked me to make my famous chili Thursday night but asked if I would put beans in it for her. Do I call a family law attorney tonight or wait until tomorrow?

This argument comes up every year!

Sheesh... just open a can of kidney beans and warm them in a separate pan. Then she can add as many beans to her chili as her heart’s content.

A strong marriage is about finding middle ground.

However, if she is being unreasonable about it, add the beans. Then play “covered wagon” at bed time, she will think twice next time about requesting beans in her chili

Hide the chili powder and tell you don't have all of the ingredients needed. Or go to the store and forget to buy beans.

My wife likes beans in chili. For the last two years I've been slowly reducing the amount of beans I put in each batch. Some time in the 2030's it will be bean free and I'll see if she notices.

I’m no fan of beans in my chili....but if the woman that butters my bread asks for beans in her chili, she will get it. That said, she’s the only person on the planet I’d make that exception for.

No beans in an authentic bowl of Texas red. No fillers of any kind. Meat and chiles.

You can put them in your pot, but it is no longer authentic Texas chili.
